Quirky - Ep. 1

Huge Gamble, Huge Reward - Ben and his team take viewers through the design process of the Ventu, an all-in-one pasta strainer, mixing, and serving bowl created by Andrea Zabinski, a suburban mother of two who came up with the idea after years of using – and washing – multiple bowls to put family meals on the table. Tasked with combining all this functionality into one object, the design team has to get crafty to bring Andrea’s concept to life.  The design is one challenge.  Andrea’s feisty demands are another.  Also in Quirky’s accelerated development pipeline is an ingenious new product called Pivot Power, an adjustable electrical power strip that solves spacing issues by flexing around corners. Created at the young age of 17 by Jake Zien, Pivot Power hit its presale quota and is going into production … if it can pass a battery of certifications.  Still a student, Jake’s breakthrough idea may just earn him more money than he ever imagined possible.  For both of these hopeful inventors, Quirky is not only seeking to fill their bank accounts but to make their dreams a reality.
